The Romance Of China's Southwest Passage

Below is a copy of one of Henry’s writings The Romance of China’s Southwest Passage with his edits1. It is believed that he wrote it in 1938. This piece is about the history of “China’s Southwest Passage”, or the silk road. He begins in 128 BC with Chang Ch’ien who is often referred to today as the father of the silk road2

This piece is from the binder in the Wesleyan Collections entitled Writing 1943-; 1930-70. It is the only piece in the binder that has written edits yet it has never been officially published. By including it in the binder Henry implies that this piece is just as important as his published works.
