In his notes for Maverick Henry writes about the relief from the Peking Siege1. Below are his notes regarding both the relief and the evacuation. Henry wrote this description many years after the siege occurred. His memory of it is still very clear thus these memories must have been very important to him. Earlier in Maverick Henry discusses how fundamental the Peking Siege was to his childhood, his development, and thus to who he was as a person.
