Henry Works At Wash U
While at Wash U Henry was the acting chair of the department of Chinese and Japanese1. In 1958 under the National Defense Education Act the department of Health, Education, and Welfare provided federal assistance to “academic language and area centers”2. The goal of this was to incentive institutions to teach uncommonly taught languages, including Chinese. In 1965 Washington University St. Louis received $98,9352.
